Advent TNT Extravaganza

December 8, 2011 by Bo Sanders 7 Comments

Tripp and Bo explore the season of Advent through song, story, and proleptic possibility.

They wander through theological frameworks, eschatological expectations and process potential for a greater engagement.

Translation: Tripp sings and then they talk about the meaning of the song … along with the week’s news through a theological lens.

CAMERON you are now an official Theology Nerd since you have gained the power of prolepsis! A number of the songs are posted as individual MP3s if you check the 'songs' category. I use to post songs more often when I wrote them...many moons ago when HBC was part of trippfuller.com Not sure it fits on the website since it's less just my stuff but I also like people listening so I may try a couple other new ones in the New year and see what happens. One of the problems with Christmas and Advent is that Christmas has so much awesome music and music from all over the globe that make it difficult to get the diversity of the church's music in just a few Sundays. I do love Advent though! JONO thanks for listening and sharing. I really like the connection with Jeremiah! Most of the time Isaiah gets all the Advent love but you could totally tell the story of jeremiah with it easy. Glad you found the podcast out in South Africa! Blessings on your journey!

That was beautiful! I live in South Africa and struggle with Christmas because it seems to be a time when we try to forget about the pain and injustice rather than engage in it. And the injustice is everywhere. This concept of Advent is new to me (I'm a conservative theologian's son, who is now involved/struggling in Charismania). Reminds me of Jeremiah weeping over Israel forgetting who she was. Thanks for a great Podcast - one of the highlights of my week.

Wow, that was great. I entered into a couple of those songs. Or did they enter me? Sounds like a question for Moltmann... oh, anyway, any chance of releasing any of them as separate files? The theological stuff was pretty good too. Do I qualify for a Theonerd ID card now that I understand what prolepsis is? I was also challenged by the distinction between Advent and Christmas. I'm quite aware of the difference, but my church would look at me strangely if I didn't use exclusively Christmas songs during December. I'm off to a new congregation soon, though, and I'm going to start by following the liturgical year right off the bat. Could be interesting. A few more Advent songs in our hymnal (singable to Christmas tunes) would be useful though.
