This is Bishop Jim Swilley. It’s long. Watch the whole thing. My distaste of megachurches aside, in the midst of the bullycides, this is a powerful thing. What are your thoughts?

I hope we can get him on the podcast soon.

Got through the first 20 minutes, long enough to hear of the two divorces. Funny how that never seems to be an issue among many Christians especially mega and tv preachers. Gays no way, Divorcee come on in and start up a ministry, cuz Lord knows Jesus never said anything about that.

Wow !!! This message is awesome !! I do not know this man have never heard of him before this tape. However, based only on what I heard while viewing this, for me he is a very courageous and God loving man. He talked about the love of God and what Jesus was and is all about. I loved what he said about Paul. Paul did write about love in a beautiful way but for me he did miss the point in some of the things he wrote about how to live this out in real life situations. My hope and prayer is that we can all begin to be as honest and live our lives as honestly as this man spoke of. The stories of Jesus has taught us much but I still think there is much we still must learn. For me, God is still speaking through the men and women of today not simply in the past. What we have experienced and learned should be added to what we have read in our much loved bibles. Maybe it will never be added and made into a holy book as were the writings of the Christians of old but from the books I have read and the authors that I love, there should be another collection of writings similar to the bible that when others read it they will say WOW, so that is what Jesus meant or WOW God is allowing us today to know more about God's love and our discernment is as great as what the early Christians expericenced when they first read and wrote down what God inspired them to say. God is still inspiring. God is still trying to give us more enlightenment. My prayer and hope is that we will be open to hear and see and be able to recognize the new now and in the future but most of all that we will begin living more lovingly. We should never stand still and say we have it all, our bible has it all. For me that is saying God stopped speaking to us and quit teaching us many years ago. Thanks for the tape it showed a lot of ways people love today and encourages us to keep on waiting upon God and God's love, grace and guidance on how we can grow in ways of loving ourselves and others. I pray for this man and hope that things will improve for him and his family and church and those who continue to worship with him. As a footnote: I do think that gays and hetorosexual people can truly love each other in form wonderful partnerships as friends but as this man and woman spoke of, I think a marriage between them would be very difficult, not impossible but very difficult.

@Brad That's one way of looking at it. Or you could be happy that there might be a gay/lesbian kid in a homophobic home who might see this and not take his or her life.

Why are there a disproportionate percentage of gays in the clergy? Is it the chance to dress up? Seriously, Religion is unreal enough without this sort of thing happening all the time. Why do you believe nonsense and expect people to listen to you preach about it? And the fact that poor and ignorant people are more likely to believe this nonsense. People in jail are MORE likely, not less, to be atheists. If atheism caused immorality, why are there so few atheists in prison?
