In this episode, Tripp interviews Dr. Alexander Shaia about his new book, The Hidden Power of the Gospels.
Dr. Shaia’s unusual approach combines anthropology, psychology, and ancient spiritual traditions to reveal that each of the four gospels focuses on a different spiritual question.
These questions form a recurring cycle that guides us through our spiritual journey.

Intersting way to read the Gospels – and one that opens up a whole host of possibilities – but I’d like to know his sources for claiming that the three year reading cycle goes back to Nicea. The current three year cycle dates back only to the 1960s and prior to that every church that used a lectionary had a one year cycle – as the Eastern churches and conservative Catholic churches still do. His discovery of a pattern is not invalidated by it being new.
