Barry Taylor brought the theological heat in his presentation titled ‘Finding Sea Legs in a World of Pirates, Gods and Monsters.’ On top of his awesome presentation where he gives a post-structuralist anthropology about the ‘techno-self’ he managed to dominate the whole cornhole tournament with his partner Ryan Parker. Barry sent me a picture of the ‘Theology After Google Cornhole Master Trophy’s’ new home in his office. It appears that it found a home with Gandhi! For more Barry check out my conversation with him on the podcast.
What does it mean to be human in the 21st century?

Interesting lecture visually and in terms of ideas... 1) Two entirely peripheral thoughts: a) The architecture he describes hardly looks networked...creative...but not "networked" b) How is "everything going viral?" That seems rather hyperbolic. 2) How are we moving beyond modernity.......if we're becoming more dependent and more enraptured by technology? I think Shane Hipps' recent book about this is quite on point. 3) Later in the talk....his discussion on diversity is correct. However, currently, in some ways its a bit of a echo-chamber as a lot of the older generation doesn't know about the conversations. Although 3 to 5 years down the line this is likely to be far different.
