An Emerging, Progressive, and Relational Vision of Faith: Homebrewed Christianity 60
By Tripp Fuller • Aug 17th, 2009 • Category: emergent, philosophy, podcast, pomoWhat do you get when Tripp talks to a theologian, church planter, educator, with progressive, emerging, and process tendencies? A podcast unlike any you have ever heard – BUT that is what you get this week when Bruce Epperly joins us.
Bruce Epperly is a man of many talents. He is a theology professor and director of continuing education at Lancaster Theological Seminary, co-pastor with his wife at Disciples United Community Church, and author of a number of outstanding books (including the progressive alternative to Rick Warren’s ‘Purpose Driven Life’).
In addition to the interview you will get
- an update on Mormomergence from Elder Napoleon.
- a shout out to the visitors from the (Post) Christian Century (who plugged one of our most popular posts ever)
- whatever Chad didn’t edit out of a 30 minute intro……..
Tripp Fuller is married to an awesome lady Alecia and has a handsome little baby boy named Elgin Thomas (aka E.T.) and Pebbles, the Schnoodle. He and Alecia are both graduates of Campbell University (where they met), the Divinity School of Wake Forest University and ordained ministers. He is working on his PhD in Philosophy of Religion and Theology at Claremont Graduate University. A few other things he digs are books, cigars, pipes, Shaq, guitar, pirates, fishing, the Counting Crows, and good conversations about Religion and Politics. The podcast is the most time consuming hobby he has ever had besides reading and blogging through Wolfhart Pannenberg's 3 volume systematic theology. Follow Tripp on Twitter | Tripp on Facebook

WOW !!! WOW !!! WOW !!! For the very first time I am at a loss for words, can you belive that. When you experience something, or should I say I experience something. that is so very profound for me it leaves me speechless. Just like when you are really in love, there are no words that are adequte to tell someone how much you love them. Bruce and Tripp I much simply say thank you from the bottom of my heart for this podcast. I would love to have a copy so I could listen to it over and over again. What you talked about was for me so affirming of what I also believe and have experienced but to hear two of my most favorite men speak so openly about what you believe and experience is so “AWE-FUL”, to use one of Bruce’s words. Men do not often speak as openly as the two of you. It is so very refreshing and encouraging. You talked about and spoke so many profound things that to paraphrase anything would not do justice to what you shared with us. I simply say I agree with you and hope that so many others will listen to this again and again and “process” all that was said in their minds then “experience” what you both were discussing. If folks do not know how to do that, I would encourge them to buy the books that Bruce has written. For me my chuch and most all churches I know should/could become more Holistic. Bruce can really explain what that is in words that anyone can understand. Buy his books !!! Bruce it was wonderful to put a voice to the face I know. Your work continues to speak to me as no other. Thanks from the bottom of my heart to Tripp and Bruce for this wonderful conversation. I say again, you are two of my most favorite men. Both of you are still growing and learning, thanks be to God. Bruce thank you also for mentioning the book of Acts. Hope more folks can come to appreciate this book. God’s continued blessing be upon you both. I value belief, experience, self knowledge, faith, sharing the “good news”, living in the moment and finding God there, being JOY-FUL, but most of all learning to LOVE, those things that bring about THE HOLY ADVENTURE.
I really enjoyed your conversation with Bruce Epperly. Very inspiring and very affirming from my own postmodern perspective, which I can’t seem to avoid, nor will I try to do so anymore out of fear or a desire to please others. Oh, and I just shared “the brew” with a friend and was very glad to do so.
Chris.
Tripp you talked more than normal in the interview. You and Bruce were really having a fun and informative conversation that sounded like it could have kept going. You should have him on again.
