I think a number of churches might fall into the category, "advocates of accommodation are neither welcoming but not affirming or welcoming and celebrating, but they provide a place for homosexual persons into the fellowship and life of the church." "While distinct and different from the specific intention of creation, the homosexual Christian is summoned to live his or her life in faithfulness and obedience to Christ - just as the heterosexual person. Against an isolation and loneliness devastating to human personhood, the homosexual Christian my choose a covenantal same-sex union within which to live out his or her gift of life. Such a same-sex union in form and essence remains nonetheless under the shadow of human fallenness." The later part of this paragraph concerns me. Though I know it is an expression of a group of people that I do not know, I take issue with this statement as quoted. Why is a homsexual union outside the norm and under the shadow of human fallenness? I understand that this is probably not what you, Dr. Tupper, think but my concern is with those that do think this way. Adam and Eve began our history but it is mentioned that there were others at the same time because their children took marriage partners. Now why does this alone mean that God did not intend for other types of marriages? I know that in our society it is considered the norm, but does that make it God's norm? I am glad that this portion ended with Galatians 3:26-29. There is neither Jew nor Greek; there is neither slave nor free; there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus."
