Walter Brueggemann on the ‘Prophetic Imagination’ for our Political Situation: Homebrewed Christianity ep.27
By Tripp Fuller • Oct 8th, 2008 • Category: bible stuff, cigars, podcast, politicsThis is week one of the Faith & Politics series here at Homebrewed Christianity. We hope this series does a little bit to contribute to a broadening of the political conversation within the church. Dr. Brueggemann begins by walking through his famous book ‘The Prophetic Imagination,’ zeros in on the Prophet Jeremiah, and then explores connections between the biblical texts and our situation today. Walter discusses community organizers, the Daily Show, voting & political participation, and the ‘shabby avoidance of the issues’ by George Stephanopoulos.

Tripp Fuller is married to an awesome lady Alecia and has a handsome little baby boy named Elgin Thomas (aka E.T.) and Pebbles, the Schnoodle. He and Alecia are both graduates of Campbell University (where they met), the Divinity School of Wake Forest University and ordained ministers. He is working on his PhD in Philosophy of Religion and Theology at Claremont Graduate University. A few other things he digs are books, cigars, pipes, Shaq, guitar, pirates, fishing, the Counting Crows, and good conversations about Religion and Politics. The podcast is the most time consuming hobby he has ever had besides reading and blogging through Wolfhart Pannenberg's 3 volume systematic theology. Follow Tripp on Twitter | Tripp on Facebook

Dr. B. kicks ass and the “The Prophetic Imagination” is one of my all time favorite books. I had all but stopped reading the old testament until I eard Brueggemann for the first time.
Thanks Tripp! You ‘da man! (nice “one up” on Nick and Josh)
Walter Brueggemann is probably my favorite biblical scholar these days. So I’m thrilled about this podcast. I’m also thrilled about your choice of intro music.
Peace, A.T.
Just finished listening – greatly enjoyed it. Although, I’d ask that you stop smoking those silly cigars and move on to the real man world of the pipe. There’s a nice fellow in Raleigh named George who can help you ease out of the back-alley world of cigars…
peace
amen with Andrew about Brueggeman being fantastic; and also about pipes.
