This is the audio from my sermon a couple weeks ago in California. Since it is only 15 minutes I like to think of it as a ‘spiritual reflection,’ because I tend on other occassions to just be getting started. Then again it was good enough to get me a job. It was fun to preach on our failure to see God when the text was perhaps the most famous theophany in scripture. You can get the prayer at the end here.
Tripp- i just flat out love you bro!!!!- there was some major HEAT on that message!!!!!!!!!! And since i'm part Jew, AS a good JEW for the record, you always answer a question With a question!!!!_________ so i think God likes to Stump us.. just so we dig a bit deeper into His heart!!!!!!!!! You best have your stuff recorded on sundays.. it is needed! Plus for those of us who are outside of Church walls doing some highly unorthodoxed things on occasion.. like elbowing people. ;-) Could really appreciate the faithfulness of your immersing yourself in Him and mining out some serious Gold dude!!!!!!!!!!!! Love you.. send luv to your lovely wife and sweet wee one! xo cat
Tripp, just completed listening to your sermon. I loved reading your sermon but listening to you brought out so much more to me than just the reading. First of all I totally agree that we become too busy, among other things, to always see God or to see God in everything. It is such a joy for me when I can see God. Once you have developed a need or desire to see God in everthing, it is amazing to me the many ways I have been priviledged to do so. Some of the most rewarding times have been so very funny. Seeing and experiencing God in humorerous happenings it so rewarding and is food for my Soul. God must have a great sense of humor or else my mind and imagination are weird or something but when I least expect to see God, God appears. Hope is the other thing that we need to focus on as you brought out. When you said we should hope to see God you probably included in this the assumption that we expect to see God. The expectation of seeing God in all things has made my journey an adventure. As I search for God, I can see the world through different lens. That way helps me to see more than just my selfish desires or the fulfillment of my preconceived notions. I have been very fortunate that all of my life I have loved learning. I love to see, touch, listen, act, interact, read and pray, etc. constantly. This has made experiencing God much easier for me than if I tried to make God into what I conceived as being God, etc. Openness is escential for me. Don't get me wrong here. I am sharing the good stuff. There have been times that I have not seen God. Times when I too was too busy, etc. But by God's grace I have returned to the seeing. My prayer is that as I see I will be. Becoming more of who God created me to be is a key to my living more productively and hopefully. I have not "arrived" I am a work in progress. My blessing upon you in your new venture and may you become the person God created you to be. We are all God's children, loved and adored and equipped with special gifts and talents to further God's kingdom on earth. I just experienced one of your many gifts. Love you forever, Jo Ann

A sermon longer than 15 minutes? You really ARE a Baptist, aren't you?
