Steve Knight pointed me to the video of Don Miller doing the benediction at the Democratic National Convention on its opening night. I thought his prayer did a good job giving voice to the many passionate Christians in America who dream of a different country and world because of our actions as individuals, churches, and citizens. Compare his words to those who sent Richard Dawkins’ some edifying emails on behalf of God and I am sure you will be grateful that Don did it and that Shawn Hannity didn’t cut Cameron Strang off when he wouldn’t go into the conservative talking points for evangelicals as he explained why he declined. I believe this would be two scores for Christians looking less like political tools this election.

my only gripe is his assertion and appeasal that Donald Miller represents “us”, by which i guess he is referring to – given that he is talking on fox news – conservative christians. — as though conservative christians and the conservative agenda are what need to be represented and heard rather than jesus and the mission of god being represented. maybe semantics, but possibly important distinction.
