Hey Nick
Great to find you.
I guess this wasn't real clear. That was Walter Rauschenbusch's article which I decided to post. While I have reasons to not being a Catholic or an other part of the beautiful mosaic that is the Christian Church, I don't agree with some of Walter's harsh negative statements. I do resonate with much of his positive statements about the baptist identity. Maybe in repentance for appearing slanderous towards my Catholic sisters and brothers I will blog on my appreciation of the liturgical tradition. Rock on Nick

Wow...just don't negate that Christ is to be found in the other traditions as well. What seems like trite ritual to some is the rules which allow access to God to others. It is like preferring the waltz to krunk. I'm sure we talked about this when we were undergrads, but structure isn't stricture (at least, not by nature).

C.S. Lewis used to say that worship was a dance and liturgy is the only thing that enables true worship because without it, you have to learn the dance all over again every week and never actually get to dancing.

As a Catholic, it is precisely the mysterious wafer and what some consider the pointless repetition of someone else's prayers that enables me to enter into the divine presence. And we do draw closer to the Church, the Blessed Mother, and everything else, but in that, we draw closer to Christ who is present in his Church.

But I am glad to see that you have done what I never was able to do...namely find reasons to be Baptist. Just don't forget that the unity of Christians was the prayer of Christ.
